Jess. This little bundle of energy is flat out the best travel partner around. Every single day I've spent with her is filled with gratuitous laughter and craziness. Jess is all over the map. Happy, sad, crazy, and sane all at the same time. I love little Jess as pretty much everyone who crosses her path does. I count myself lucky to get so much of her time as she is so special. Although gregarious in a crowd, Jess needs time to recharge as she gives up every last shred of her energy to all around her. I closely watch when we travel and will disappear for a few hours if I see the cues.
Jess and I have a simple friendship and a very close ones at that. There is this massive gap in our age - but all that really doesn't matter because when we get together and talk to each other there is an amazing, beautiful, and innocent camaraderie - well ummm - maybe all the conversations aren't so innocent... Our conversations head off on crazy inappropriate wild tangents but all is good because we have absolute trust in each other.
So lets talk about these two pictures. So juxtaposed. Both were taken in Iceland days apart. In the first picture Jess and I had been basically living off ham sandwiches for several days and camping around the countryside in a little tent. We had wanted to do one fancy meal. Food is mega expensive in Iceland so we decided on this one big meal of lobster yumminess with all the trimmings. We had been driving and site seeing all day and Jess wasn't feeling she was looking good enough for the fancy meal so in true Jess style she was suddenly stripped down to her underwear and changing in the middle of the parking lot. Moments later she emerged transformed.
Now the other less flattering picture... That was in the hotel in Iceland. As you can see Jess is in pack mule mode with bags hanging off in every direction. I asked if she could carry my luggage as well.
Jess is the gold standard of friends and I really don't know if I'll find anyone quite like her again!
Jess you rock!!
